From Marshall’s workbench.

The spiral is an ancient symbol found in petroglyphs and cave paintings around the world. Its meaning differs from culture to culture : new beginnings, the source of life, the womb, hope, growth, life’s path, rise of consciousness, change, spirit, perfection and our connection to the universe. The ocean gives us beautiful visible examples of spirals in shells like the nautilus, conchs and cone shells. Even cowrie shells have a spiral hidden inside.
Whether you seek a talisman or keepsake, our spiral line will remind you of the beginnings, persistence and eternity of life.

A puka shell begins its life as a cone shell. Predators and/or the power of the sea wear the cone part of the shell down leaving the disc end of the shell. This end contains a perfect spiral which eventually disappears when the puka (the Hawaiian word for hole) forms.

This spiral necklace features a white checkered cone shell cap. It measures 3/4 inch. It hangs on 18 inches of hand braided artificial sinew, however if you would prefer to wear it as a choker just provide us with your measurement. It is mermaid friendly (waterproof) and can be worn in the shower and the sea.
