Axis deer antler spike shed necklace with tiger puka shells and a sliding seaglass clasp

Here on Molokai we are lucky to be surrounded by hundreds of Axis deer who shed their antler every year for us to find. In 1868 Axis deer were introduced to the Island of Molokai as a gift from Hong Kong to King Kamehameha V. They are native to India and Sri Lanka.

This is a very special piece made with a young spike’s shed and rare tiger puka shells. It is strung on hand braided artificial sinew with my signature sliding seaglass clasp.
The necklace measurement is 20. The spike tip is 2 1/2 inches.
